What did Sonja do at Wageningen University?
Sonja graduated as engineer Ir. Preventive Health Care , specialized in Human Nutrition, in 1983 at Wageningen University and Research. In the last two years of this study, she completed the practical part of her study in a World Health Organization project in Africa, Mozambique.
During her studies she also obtained a first degree teaching qualification for Human Nutrition, Biology and Preventive Health Care.
Human Nutrition is an integrated multidisciplinary approach in human education and research, that involves the level of the cell, the individual and the population. Moreover, it covers the full causal chain from determinants of food choice to intake of foods and nutrients which affects nutritional status and body function, and subsequently health and disease.
This study is on the crossroads of the different levels and disciplines. It is this complexity that Sonja loves. In Wageningen she became interested in the biochemistry in the human body. Later in her professional career, she specialized with several post graduate courses for coaching, that are strongly based on the neurochemistry and neurobiology of the human body and mind.
