Dopamine’s Odyssey: Why Motivation Starts in the Body

This engaging and neuro-informed Master Workshop explores the hidden drivers of motivation through the lens of dopamine.

  • What fuels your inner drive?
  • Why do you sometimes pursue goals you no longer enjoy?
  • And how can we distinguish between craving and genuine joy?

Rooted in applied neuroscience, this 90-minute session introduces key concepts such as the pleasure-pain balance, dopaminergic conditioning, and the impact of early “I should” scripts.

Through reflection, somatic exploration, and practical tools, participants learn to support themselves and others in shifting from overdrive to sustainable motivation.

The workshop is designed for supervisors, coaches and professionals, who want to align performance with wellbeing,  and to listen to the body as a source of sustainable change.

From a neuroscience perspective,  anxiety is not purely psychological. It emerges from the dynamic interplay between neural, physiological, and social processes. It is both a state of imbalance and a driver of adaptation.

Dopamine plays a central role in motivation and neuroplasticity, especially when effort leads to meaningful reward.

Sharing experiences and efforts with empathy and resilience, can transform feelings of despair and isolation into collective strength.

This workshop was first presented at the international ANSE Summer University in August 2025 in München.
